If there is one thing we've learned while watching the Prehn family, they are very skilled at coming up with new schemes. While checking up on Jr's upcoming sentencing for pleading guilty to drug charges, this little gem was discovered.

It looks like Jr has hired himself a new attorney. Tim Barkovic is a very controversial Saint Claire Shores defense attorney. He's well known for several run ins with various police officers involved in his cases. Does this mean Jr now plans on taking his guilty plea back? Did he have some great remembrance that he was innocent after all? What part did Marty Sr play in this sudden change of heart? Has Sr finally decided to use his vast influence over the Michigan courts, judges, and prosecutors to help save his son from prison?
Could this quote from Marty be a preview of a new defense strategy for Jr?
" It does appear that there had been some mental or depression issues that happened over the course of the last year or even longer"
Are depression or other mental issues now a defense for being a drug dealer?
In an ironic twist, Jr's new lawyer also has a high profile client in another case. He represents Eric Gala, a person Marty loves to rant about. Like this for example:
January 22.
"Here is a photo you can use when you do a follow up article to the Dr. Jim Chism case. I have uncovered some more interesting information related to a motive as to why Eric Gala has his parents tied to their bed at the hotel. Gordie did a great job on the 2nd day of the trial. See you on Monday the 27th at Circuit Court."
Does this mean that while working with Jr's attorney on his case, Marty will be trying to sabotage another case the same attorney is working on? That should make for some very tense moments in the near future. Or maybe Marty has had a change of heart and decided that Gala really didn't do anything worse to his parents than Marty did to his own mother. Has Marty now joined forces with people who defend alleged elder abusers?
Another aspect of this lawyer substitution is of course money. How do the Prehn's plan on paying for such a high profile attorney? How do you go from needing a public defender to a guy like Barkovic? Has Marty somehow convinced this lawyer he has a winnable lawsuit against the law enforcement agencies involved in Jr's arrest? Does this mean Marty plans on reviving his $30 million lawsuit against the sheriff's department? Did Barkovic act out of haste the day before Jr's sentencing because he saw a big settlement opportunity but didn't have time to research it before stepping in? I have a feeling this won't end well for Jr if he takes back his guilty plea.
Is Marty going to sacrifice his son's criminal case for his own chance at getting some money? From past experience watching Marty we all know he'd sell out anyone for a few dollars, including his own family.
Now I'm really confused. Isn't he best friends with and sat at the prosecutor's table on that Gala case?

Not including missing his 22 birthday which only happens once in a life time the amount so far is a staggering amount of $23,760,000. ReplyDeleteThe laws are there now in Michigan. What needs to be done is have law enforcement enforce them and this has to be done by the local prosecuting attorneys office. In Macomb County Suzanne Faunce is the head of the Elder Abuse task force and she did a GREAT job in District Court to get the Judge to have this elder abuse case (ERIC GALA) bound over to the Circuit Court for 2 counts of 2nd degree elder abuse. We are also working together to form a county, state and national task force to combat this national epidemic. I have personally contacted Fox news locally and their national news station to discuss this case and my mothers case (Justice 4 Jean) and am talking with the Nancy Grace people. By Debra Cassens WeissA Michigan defense lawyer’s cross-examination of an informant went awry yesterday when the witness became angry and said the lawyer questioning him had sold drugs.
Informant David Maki’s outburst came after defense lawyer Tim Barkovic called him a liar and a snitch, the Detroit Free Press reports. Maki “got angry and said defiantly on the stand that Barkovic had sold drugs, after which the judge dismissed the jury,” the story reports.
Barkovic is representing a co-defendant accused of felony murder in a store robbery that left one clerk dead and another injured. Jurors were instructed to ignore the comments by Maki.
Judge Donald Miller of Macomb Circuit Court denied the co-defendant’s request for a new lawyer, the Detroit News reports.
Barkovic says the charge of selling drugs is ridiculous and sought a mistrial. Miller also denied that request, the Detroit Free Press reports in an updated account.
Or, maybe he (the attorney) and junior were locked up together and became good friends. ...

A Michigan criminal defense lawyer has been charged with misdemeanor assault for a courthouse scuffle with a police officer two months ago.
St. Clair Shores lawyer Timothy Barkovic was charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace, the Detroit Free Press reports. Barkovic contends he was attacked unprovoked and he is the victim; police counter that Barkovic was shouting profanities at the officer, who was trying to get away from the lawyer.
The incident at the Shelby Township courthouse is not Barkovic’s first run-in with police, according to the newspaper. Once he suggested that Shelby Township should change its name to Taser Town after a man died from a Taser shock by police. He was also arrested and charged with resisting arrest at a John McCain campaign rally, the story says. And he was temporarily banned from another courthouse after a run-in with a security officer, the story adds.

That is elder abuse and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults many who suffer from alzheimers and dementia like my mother did. Tthe Probate Court in Colorado Springs exploited her and allowed my sister to forged documents in order to get her money. Mom died last September 25, 2010 but the fight to find justice for her continues. I have asked the FBI, the US Justice Department and the Attorney Generals from each state to form a JOINT TASK FORCE to go after these white collar criminals and judges wearing black robes who think they are above the law. Marty Prehn Ellen this also includes my 3 brothers and 2 sisters who conspired to defraud my fathers Living Trust and worked to financially destroy me and leave me homeless. I have been without electricity since May 11, 2011 and the gas just got shut off due to the malicious acts of my siblings and their attorney's and the fraud of the court in Colorado Springs. I would like to suggest to get actor Mickey Rooney on the same show as he testified back in March of this year in Washington DC to expose the fraud and corruption that 1000's have been subjected to.

Marty Prehn I have asked others who have experienced the same bully tactics to stand up and speak out as well. My therapist says I am doing better with getting over my shyness issues. No one ever believes that I was the runt of the family now that I learned to speak out about abuse and bullying.
